Why Leather

Why wear leather in Spring and Summer 2013?

Leather has come a long way. It is no longer only used as insulation in the winter or by fashion rebels for a heavy, punk rock look. In fact, leather can't really be defined into one look or category. New advances in technology have allowed for leather to be so versatile that it can be worn in many different ways by all age groups during any month of the year. Tom Julian, a director at the fashion forecasting firm, The Doneger Group, says, "leather is consistent in men's and women's, and you can be rock 'n' roll trendy and wear John Varvatos to AllSaints, or be into classic American, like a Michael Kors or Gap-type operator". Leather is now so versatile that it can be worn by everyone in many different ways to fit all types of fashion tastes.

Some of the modifications to leather for the warmer seasons include:

  • Thinner leather
  • Dyed Leather- Spring colors and prints
  • Washable Leather
  • Perforated Leather
Furthermore, leather is now available at many different price points. Also, as the leather trend is growing, vegan leather or faux leather is growing as well. Vegan leather is looking more and more like real leather. This is great because vegan leather is usually much cheaper than leather and it allows the trend to be worn by our vegan and animal-friendly fashionistas.
